Yes on 4 Campaign Launches TV Ad Featuring “Caroline”

Caroline recounts her need for an abortion in order to access life-extending cancer treatment – an abortion that would now be banned under Florida’s extreme abortion ban.

FLORIDA – With 35 days until Election Day, Floridians Protecting Freedom’s Yes on 4 Campaign continues to invest in a statewide, multi-million dollar ads campaign expanding across the most populated TV markets in the state. The third television ad in the expansive paid media campaign, “Caroline” highlights that abortion care is health care.

The ad features Caroline, a courageous mother, diagnosed with brain cancer during her second pregnancy. Caroline made the decision to have an abortion so she could receive the life-extending treatment she needed to fight cancer and be present for her young daughter two years ago. Had she been living under Florida’s extreme ban, she would not have received adequate health care. The only way to end the current ban, which has no real exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the woman, is for Floridians to vote yes on Amendment 4.

“My abortion allowed me more time to be a mother to my daughter and a wife to my husband,” says Caroline. “If I were diagnosed today, Florida’s extreme abortion ban would force me to choose between my health and being there for my child. No one should have to make that choice.”

You can watch “Caroline” – which began airing today– here and view the transcription below. With just eight weeks until Election Day, this ad will serve as a reminder to Floridians that they have the power to remove politicians from private medical decisions about abortion. Voting yes on Amendment 4 is the only way to end Florida’s near-total ban and put personal health care decisions back where they belong: with women, their families, and their doctors – not politicians.

VO:

When I saw the tumor on the MRI,

My first thought was… am I gonna be able to see my daughter again?

The doctors knew that if I did not end my pregnancy,

I would lose my baby,

I would lose my life,

And my daughter would lose her mom.

Florida has now banned abortion… even in cases like mine.

Amendment Four is gonna protect women like me.

We have to vote Yes.
